Treatment Approach

Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or have been in counseling at other times in your life, my goal is not only for you develop better coping skills for life’s stressors, but also for you to understand patterns that have kept you in the same cycle & achieve deeper, longer lasting change through the following approaches that guide my practice:

Clinical trauma professional training

Advanced training for mental health professionals in trauma counseling and treatment.

DBT-Informed (Dialectical behavioral therapy) Traditional and Radically Open

A highly structured CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) intervention that provides stabilization skills such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. Both approaches address coping skills to develop a more secure attachment and healthier relationships.

Attachment-based Interventions

Human beings have an internal blueprint for relationships and a secure attachment. When we experience abuse, neglect, and dysfunction, especially in early childhood, we do not expect to have our emotional needs met in healthy ways. As an adult, our unresolved trauma makes developing and maintaining healthy relationships difficult. Attachment based interventions support clients understand these experiences and develop a secure attachment within oneself and current relationships.

Perinatal Mental Health Trained

Traumatic experiences related to a women’s motherhood journey (infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, birth trauma) compounds unresolved trauma even further. Unresolved trauma impacts our parenting and how motherhood change’s our identity (Matrescence). Society has socialized women to eventually become mothers. When this path is not easy, it challenges our identity as women. Even women who make an intentional decision to not become a mother can  experience a deep struggle.

Wellness

A foundational counseling philosophy that life oriented toward optimal health and well-being in which body, mind, and spirit are integrated by the individual to live more fully within the human and community.  Ideally, it is the optimum state of health and well-being that each individual is capable of achieving. (Myers et al., 2000, p. 252)
